Coaching is a modern and rapidly growing method for helping others to improve  develop, learn new skills, find personal success, achieve aims, and manage life change and personal challenges. Personal coaching is effective for all situations, whether in personal life, career, sales or corporate and business life.

Coaches often act as human mirrors for people by sharing outside and unbiased perspectives. Coaching is about getting the very best out of yourself so enabling you to make decisions that will improve your life.

On the Life Balance Wheel, look at the eight categories which make up a balanced life. Then ask yourself: “In my life now, how satisfied am I in each of these areas?”

With the hub as 0 (very unsatisfied), and the rim of the wheel as 10 (very satisfied), rate your level of satisfaction in each area.

Draw a straight or curved line linking each section in order to create a new outer edge on your wheel
As with a physical wheel, if all of your scores, or spokes on the wheel, extend to a perfect 10 (very satisfied) then the rim of your life wheel is completely circular and will roll smoothly.

Coaching offers you the opportunity to look at your Life Balance Wheel, to discuss overall satisfaction, or talk about the gap between where you are now and where you really want to be. If you are in a good place in your life, coaching will enable you be intentional in keeping the process going.

How will I know if life coaching is for me?

I offer a complimentary initial consultation during which we can discuss your needs and expectations of coaching and I can answer any questions you may have about the process. This will give us the opportunity to get to know each other a little and for you to decide whether you want to go ahead with coaching. If you do decide to take me on as your coach, we will design a coaching package for you during this session.

What should I expect from a coaching session?

During the coaching sessions I work with you one to one, either face to face or via the phone (with email support). My approach is friendly, relaxed, and rooted in common sense. I provide support, guidance, structure, and accountability. Each coaching session builds on the progress made in the last, creating an accumulative effect and constantly building momentum and making progress until we achieve your aims.

What’s the difference between coaching and counselling?

Coaching and counselling are similar in the sense that both counsellor and coach ask the client questions, sometimes requiring a lot of soul-searching. Neither counsellor nor coach will give advice but they listen to what the client says and direct the conversation with further pertinent questions. However, whereas the typical counselling session will be dealing with issues in the past affecting the present, the coaching relationship is focused on the future and deals with optimising opportunity by acting proactively.

How does it work?

I will use questioning techniques to facilitate your own thought processes in order to identify solutions and actions rather than take a wholly directive approach. My key roles will be to:

  • Support you in setting appropriate goals and methods of assessing progress in relation to these goals.
  • Observe, listen and ask questions to understand your situation.
  • Encourage a commitment to action and the development of lasting personal growth and change.
  • Maintain unconditional positive regard for you the client, which means that the coach is at all times supportive and non-judgemental of you, your views, lifestyle and aspirations
  • Ensure that you develop personal competencies and do not develop unhealthy dependencies on the coaching or mentoring relationship.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the process, using objective measures wherever possible to ensure the relationship is successful and that you are achieving your personal goals.
How frequent are the coaching sessions?

This depends on what you want to achieve with your coaching. During the consultation session, we will design a coaching package together that will suit your needs and your budget. Frequency of sessions ranges from one to three sessions per month, with unlimited email support in between.

How long will I need to be coached for?

I usually ask clients to commit to an initial three months, which can then be extended for as long as you like. Whatever your situation, together we can design a coaching programme to suit you. we can design one together to meet your requirements. Payment is due in advance by cheque or bank transfer.

If you are truly committed to making changes in your life with life coaching and money is the only thing holding you back, please contact me and we can discuss the possibility of negotiating an alternative fee.
