Acceptance & Commitment Therapy A.C.T. Mindfulness – Advanced (Zoom)

From: £370.00 3 hours

Description

A.C.T. is evidence-based and has an ever-growing range of applications, e.g. stress, anxiety, self-esteem and confidence. It's a down-to-earth approach of being true to one's values and to apply them as a basis for goal setting and achieving greater vitality. Painful emotions or unpleasant thoughts can be tough to sit with and accept. Often, our knee-jerk reaction is to avoid these experiences or try to get rid of them completely, which usually only makes us feel worse.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (A.C.T.) aims to help people develop a better relationship with complex thoughts, feelings, and internal experiences and to encourage them to commit to living their life to the fullest (Harris, 2011).

A.C.T. exercises help children develop concentration and self-awareness. Mindfulness is a technique that can lead to structural changes in the brain that create and enhance stress management qualities. It is effective in the treatment of anxiety, stress and depression. This course will help you develop the skills to offer mindfulness techniques to children and young people and provide valuable resources to support mindfulness practice.

Learning Aims:

  1. Develop a clear insight into what mindfulness actually is and isn't
  2. Develop an appreciation of how we can use this skill to help develop more self-awareness and widen the window of tolerance
  3. You will have a clear idea of what is meant by the 'third wave' in therapy – and the first and second too.
  4. Explore exactly what is involved in A.C.T., and be able to use A.C.T. approaches with your young people, perhaps especially with those for whom traditional C.B.T. has proved less effective.
  5. Understand how to support people to better at accepting their own thoughts and feelings as a prerequisite for helping others.
  6. You will be more in contact with your values and more prepared to act responsibly and help others do the same.
  7. Understand how to support people to be less distressed by your distress when you are distressed and able to show others how to achieve that. The skills of mindfulness, concentration and relaxation
  8. Techniques for applying mindfulness to the breath, body, thoughts, feelings and everyday life
  9. Practical tips for practising mindfulness
  10. Dealing with difficulties that arise in practising

Empowering Safety: Bespoke Safeguarding & Child Protection Training

Why Choose Bespoke Training?

Generic training can leave staff feeling unprepared for the real-life scenarios they face. Our tailored approach ensures the content, delivery method, and case studies are directly relevant to your sector (e.g., education, healthcare, sport, charity, corporate), your local policies, and the specific vulnerabilities and risks present in your community.

Our Specialised Training Pillars

We design engaging, practical, and compliant training across three core areas:

  • For Professionals Working with Children (Child Protection): Focuses on recognising the signs of abuse and neglect, statutory guidance (e.g., Working Together to Safeguard Children), robust reporting procedures, and the creation of a safe, child-focused culture.
  • For Professionals Working with Adults (Adult Safeguarding): Focuses on the principles of the Care Act, understanding different types of harm, promoting wellbeing, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) considerations, and ensuring person-led safeguarding responses.
  • Blended Cohorts (Safeguarding for All Ages): Ideal for organisations whose staff or volunteers interact with both children and adults (e.g., community centres, housing associations, religious organisations). This training highlights the common principles of good practice while clearly delineating the different legal frameworks, signs of harm, and reporting routes for each demographic.

Invest in training that transforms knowledge into action. Equip your team with the confidence and competence to protect those in your care proactively.

Need more time?

We recognise that sometimes groups need more time for discussions and group work. This can mean that a two-hour session is just not long enough to explore the curriculum and engage in question and answer sessions. So we are you offering the opportunity to extend the session by an hour to allow your trainees the chance to explore the curriculum fully!
