Description
The United States Congress officially proclaimed March as Women’s History Month in 1987. Since then, the United kingdom has featured women and their often unsung contributions to history, society, and culture each March.
But what does it mean to honour this month? And, perhaps more importantly, why did getting here take until 1987? Throughout this course, we’ll answer those questions by unravelling the complex story behind women’s history. And we won’t shy away from covering the hard topics, including how this observance sometimes misses the mark by tokenizing and alienating the very women it claims to celebrate.
To do that, we’ll break down what this month means and how it began. We’ll also examine the evolution of women’s rights throughout history and spotlight how you can champion women’s equity and inclusion today.
