Description
Promoting Resilience - live training for Foster Carers and Social Workers
This course shows how resilience is linked to recovery from trauma and how adults can help children and young people to develop resilience.
Building resilience is the ability to adapt well to adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or even significant sources of stress. Resilience can help our children manage stress and feelings of anxiety and uncertainty. Emotional pain and sadness are common when we have suffered major trauma or personal loss, or even when we hear of someone else’s loss or trauma.
Learning Aims:
- Assist Foster Carers to be able to define what is meant by resilience
- Look at resilience in relation to recovery from childhood trauma and abuse
- Examine building resilience in the context of the child’s various social networks
- Identify factors that contribute to resilience and how we can support them
- Plan ways of building on the child’s strengths and increasing resilience and positive self-identity
This course is for Foster Carers and Adopters as well as their Supervising Social Workers. It is also suitable for Residential Child Care Workers (RCCW) and residential team managers from mainstream, short-breaks and outreach services.
