Description

Safer Care - live training for Foster Carers & Social Workers

This course will look at why it is important to think about Safe Care in relation to foster carers, their families and wider networks, ensuring children and young people in care are safe in a family environment.

This is an interactive training course, looking at different areas of risk and how to minimise them. You will also understand more about Local Area Designated Officer (LADO), the risks that the digital world poses and the process of investigating allegations.

Learning aims:

  1. Understand what safer caring is
  2. Understand how your role fits into the wider context of safeguarding children
  3. Know how to develop strategies, knowledge and understanding that ensures safer caring in a 'risk sensible' way
  4. Have an understanding of delegated authority
  5. Be able to weigh up risks in a variety of circumstances
  6. Develop strategies for keeping all members of the family and extended network safe

Format: This is a live training session through the platform "Zoom". It includes taught sections, small group work, work in pairs, and whole group discussions.

Hand-outs & Certificates: Downloadable course notes and certificates of attendance are provided.

Need more time?

We recognise that sometimes groups need more time for discussions and group work. This can mean that a two-hour session is just not long enough to explore the curriculum and engage in question and answer sessions. So we are you offering the opportunity to extend the session by an hour to allow your trainees the chance to explore the curriculum fully!
