Description

Working with PTSD in Children

PTSD in Children is something that foster carers and social workers are likely to come into contact with as part of their role. The Children's Trauma Academy identify that trauma is a psychologically distressing event outside of the range of ordinary human experiences that creates an intense and prolonged stress response. It is recognised that these incidents are usually outside of the typical human experiences, but sadly, for children in the foster care system, they can be very familiar.

This course will explore the signs and symptoms of PTSD which make it different from many of the other trauma-related psychosocial injuries. We examine why PTSD may be going undiagnosed and review the estimated percentages for looked after children.

This e-learning module will give an in depth insight into this topic.

This module is part of a wider suite of blended learning - full details HERE.

Need more time?

We recognise that sometimes groups need more time for discussions and group work. This can mean that a two-hour session is just not long enough to explore the curriculum and engage in question and answer sessions. So we are you offering the opportunity to extend the session by an hour to allow your trainees the chance to explore the curriculum fully!
