New PACE E-learning – One standalone training event may not be adequate
The feedback that Ofsted is giving shows us that the training landscape is changing.
👉 Trauma-informed training is no longer effective as a one-off event. It needs to be:
- Continuous
- Accessible
- Embedded into everyday practice
Real staff development and competence don’t happen in a single session.
What an effective training model looks like
To truly meet the training needs highlighted by Ofsted, training must work at three levels:
1. Immediate support → Micro-learning (5–10 mins)
- Quick, accessible learning
- Supports day-to-day practice
- Ideal for new starters and refreshers
2. Knowledge consolidation → Bite-sized learning (30–50 mins)
- Reinforces key concepts
- Checks understanding
- Identifies gaps in knowledge
3. Deep understanding → Deep dive modules (2–4+ hours)
- Full subject immersion
- Equivalent to in-depth live training
- Builds long-term competence and confidence
Why this layered approach works
This structure solves the exact problems Ofsted are raising:
✔ Always available
Staff can access learning at any time – either individually or in groups.
✔ Flexible
Fits around shifts, staffing pressures, and real-life demands
✔ Scalable
Works for one staff member or an entire team
✔ Consistent
Ensures everyone receives the same high-quality training
Importantly, this works for new starters.
No more waiting for the next training date. New staff can:
- Start learning on day one.
- Build knowledge progressively.
- Apply learning immediately.
This creates safer, more confident practice from the very beginning.
A shift in how we think about training
This model does not seek to replace existing live training; it is all about strengthening it.
Giving services a model that:
- Meets Ofsted expectations.
- Supports staff properly.
- And ultimately improves outcomes for those in care.
What this means for your service
If your current training model:
- Relies heavily on scheduled sessions
- Struggles to onboard new starters quickly
- Doesn’t flex with staffing pressures
…it may already be falling behind what Ofsted expect to see.
A better way forward
Our new PACE e-learning suite has been built around exactly this model:
- Micro-learning
- Bite-sized modules
- Deep dive courses
All designed to be:
👉 Accessible
👉 Flexible
👉 Ready when your staff need it
