Description

Safeguarding & Child Protection

“Safeguarding Children is everyone’s responsibility” (Care Act 2014)

New Safeguarding Course - Enhanced Spring 2026 - Currently only delivered by our lead trainer, Scott Henery

* Would you like to upgrade this course to include your organisation's policies, practices & procedures? Explore HERE *

This comprehensive masterclass in frontline safety is specifically designed for foster carers, teachers, and residential social care staff. Recognising the critical roles these individuals play in safeguarding vulnerable children, the course effectively bridges theoretical knowledge with the practical challenges of modern safeguarding. It explores the safeguarding protective framework from the ground up.

This course is mandatory for all foster carers and those working with under-18s. To keep children safe, key adults must be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect. It is also essential to have a complete understanding of the reporting and recording processes.

Course Overview

Safeguarding is about creating an environment of proactive vigilance. This session focuses on the unique challenges faced in the home, classroom, and residential settings, emphasising the importance of the "Professional Curiosity" mindset.

Key Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

- Identify Complex Indicators:

Move beyond physical signs to recognise behavioural, emotional, and online indicators of neglect, grooming, and exploitation.

- Navigate Disclosure:

Master the "Listen, Reassure, Document" protocol for when a child chooses to speak out.

- Understand Contextual Safeguarding:

Recognise risks outside the family home, such as peer-on-peer abuse, gang involvement, and social media influence.

- Execute Multi-Agency Collaboration:

Clarify the specific reporting hierarchies for schools, foster care, and residential settings to ensure no child falls through the cracks.

- Maintain Professional Boundaries:

Discuss the nuances of "safe touch" and emotional intimacy within care and educational roles.

This course is for educators, foster carers, adopters, and their supervising social workers. It is also suitable for Residential Child Care Workers (RCCWs) and residential team managers from mainstream, short-breaks, and outreach services.

Format: This is a live training session through the platform "Zoom". It includes taught sections, small group work, work in pairs, and whole group discussions.

Hand-outs & Certificates: Downloadable course notes and certificates of attendance are provided.

Empowering Safety: Bespoke Safeguarding & Child Protection Training

Why Choose Bespoke Training?

Generic training can leave staff feeling unprepared for the real-life scenarios they face. Our tailored approach ensures the content, delivery method, and case studies are directly relevant to your sector (e.g., education, healthcare, sport, charity, corporate), your local policies, and the specific vulnerabilities and risks present in your community.

Our Specialised Training Pillars

We design engaging, practical, and compliant training across three core areas:

  • For Professionals Working with Children (Child Protection): Focuses on recognising the signs of abuse and neglect, statutory guidance (e.g., Working Together to Safeguard Children), robust reporting procedures, and the creation of a safe, child-focused culture.
  • For Professionals Working with Adults (Adult Safeguarding): Focuses on the principles of the Care Act, understanding different types of harm, promoting wellbeing, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) considerations, and ensuring person-led safeguarding responses.
  • Blended Cohorts (Safeguarding for All Ages): Ideal for organisations whose staff or volunteers interact with both children and adults (e.g., community centres, housing associations, religious organisations). This training highlights the common principles of good practice while clearly delineating the different legal frameworks, signs of harm, and reporting routes for each demographic.

Invest in training that transforms knowledge into action. Equip your team with the confidence and competence to protect those in your care proactively.

Need more time?

We recognise that sometimes groups need more time for discussions and group work. This can mean that a two-hour session is just not long enough to explore the curriculum and engage in question and answer sessions. So we are you offering the opportunity to extend the session by an hour to allow your trainees the chance to explore the curriculum fully!
