Grooming is a way of getting close to children and young people. It's a technique used by those who want to harm and exploit them sexually or criminally. Any young person can be groomed, whatever their gender, sexuality, religion, background or upbringing. This course helps professionals understand and respond to the needs of children and young people who could be at risk of exploitation.
This course explores the importance of life story work for children separated from their family of origin. It can help them make sense of their past and present to move confidently into the future. Life Story work involves gathering facts about the child's life creatively, resulting in a reassuring record of who they are and where they come from. It is a critical tool in promoting their sense of identity and self-worth. The course outlines how to effectively facilitate LS work to achieve positive outcomes.
Loss, transition and change are integral parts of being a looked-after child. This course aims to help carers fully understand their impact on children, young people and families. We will look at psychological theories and research to inform our understanding of the topic. We will consider the role of carers in supporting children and young people to deal with the loss, transition and change they have experienced so far in life and the changes still to come. This course provides you with a detailed understanding of child bereavement.
Under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act of 2015, "specified authorities" are legally required to consider the need to prevent individuals from being drawn into terrorism. This requirement is referred to as the Prevent Duty. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to identifying and supporting young people at risk of radicalisation. The focus shifts from policing to safeguarding, treating radicalisation as a harm akin to grooming or CSE. Participants learn how to navigate the ideological landscape of modern extremism and master the "Notice, Check, Share" referral process.
Young people can be particularly vulnerable to radicalisation due to experiences of trauma, instability, identity struggles and a strong need for belonging. In today’s climate, risks are not confined to one ideology but come from multiple directions, online and offline, including far-right extremism and toxic masculinity, religiously motivated hate and conspiracy-driven communities. This course supports caregivers, educators, and professionals in recognising early warning signs, responding with confidence, and strengthening protective factors around young people.

What does PACE stand for?:

Playfulness

Use a light-hearted, reassuring tone – similar to parent-infant interactions – to create an atmosphere of safety and reassurance where no one feels judged, and the child can cope with positive feelings.

Acceptance

Acceptance is about actively communicating that you accept the feelings, thoughts and internal struggles underneath the child’s outward behaviour. It is not about accepting the behaviour but helping teach the child not to feel ashamed of their inner turmoil.

Curiosity

Curiosity, without judgement, is how we help children become aware of their inner life. It’s about wondering out loud without necessary expecting an answer in return. Phrases like “I wonder if…” will help the child to name their thoughts and emotions.

Empathy

Feeling a child’s sadness or distress and being emotionally available to them during times of difficulty shows the child that they are not alone and that the adult is strong enough to support them.

Empowering Safety: Bespoke Safeguarding & Child Protection Training

Why Choose Bespoke Training?

Generic training can leave staff feeling unprepared for the real-life scenarios they face. Our tailored approach ensures the content, delivery method, and case studies are directly relevant to your sector (e.g., education, healthcare, sport, charity, corporate), your local policies, and the specific vulnerabilities and risks present in your community.

Our Specialised Training Pillars

We design engaging, practical, and compliant training across three core areas:

  • For Professionals Working with Children (Child Protection): Focuses on recognising the signs of abuse and neglect, statutory guidance (e.g., Working Together to Safeguard Children), robust reporting procedures, and the creation of a safe, child-focused culture.
  • For Professionals Working with Adults (Adult Safeguarding): Focuses on the principles of the Care Act, understanding different types of harm, promoting wellbeing, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) considerations, and ensuring person-led safeguarding responses.
  • Blended Cohorts (Safeguarding for All Ages): Ideal for organisations whose staff or volunteers interact with both children and adults (e.g., community centres, housing associations, religious organisations). This training highlights the common principles of good practice while clearly delineating the different legal frameworks, signs of harm, and reporting routes for each demographic.

Invest in training that transforms knowledge into action. Equip your team with the confidence and competence to protect those in your care proactively.
