Description
PACE for Schools – Module Two: Applying PACE in Practice
This is the second instalment of our two-part PACE for Schools training. All participants must complete Module One before attending Module Two, as this session builds directly on the shared understanding and foundations established in the first day.

Day Two: Practical Application and Implementation
Day Two focuses on helping staff confidently apply PACE in real-life school situations. Participants move from understanding why children behave as they do to how to respond in ways that reduce escalation, support regulation and maintain strong relationships, even in the most challenging moments.
Deepening Practice: Using PACE Day to Day
By the end of Day 2, participants will be able to:
-
Use Curiosity to support reflection and emotional literacy
Apply curious, non-judgemental language – such as wondering statements rather than “why” questions – to help pupils reflect on their internal experiences and feel understood rather than interrogated. -
Respond with Empathy and support co-regulation
Practise empathetic responses that validate a pupil’s emotional experience and learn practical co-regulation strategies to help pupils return to a calmer, more regulated state. -
Apply PACE in difficult moments
Develop and practise PACE-led responses to common classroom challenges, including refusal, defiance, withdrawal and sudden emotional outbursts, with a clear emphasis on connection before correction and consistency with behaviour support plans.
Whole-School Practice and Staff Wellbeing
Day Two also recognises that emotionally available practice can only be sustained when staff feel supported themselves.
Participants will:
-
Develop reflective awareness
Use guided self-reflection to identify personal triggers, recognise signs of emotional overload or “blocked care”, and explore strategies to maintain emotional availability for pupils. -
Apply PACE beyond the classroom
Adapt PACE principles to strengthen communication and collaboration with colleagues and parents/carers, supporting more relational, less reactive conversations. -
Create a practical action plan
Identify at least three immediate, achievable steps to embed the PACE mindset into daily practice, contributing to a more consistent, trauma-informed whole-school culture.
(It is essential that all participants complete Module One before attending this session.)

What others say
"We recently completed the P.A.C.E. Training for Schools with Social Care Training Solutions and were extremely impressed. The training was engaging, practical, and immediately applicable, giving our staff the confidence to use P.A.C.E. in everyday practice. It has strengthened staff relationships with pupils and helped foster a more consistent, nurturing school environment. We would highly recommend their training to other schools."
