Supporting Children with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE)

Scott Henery founded Social Care Training Solutions [SCTS] in 2015 because he believes that instead of mending broken adults, our focus needs to be on building stronger children. It is vital that Children in Care receive not just adequate care, but Therapeutic Care, to enable them to recover from the Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma they have suffered. He is not alone – we work with dedicated professionals every day that make a positive difference to the lives of the most vulnerable young people in our society.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1554819176418{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

SCTS was set up with the clear mission of empowering social care workers and carers with the techniques to support young people to resolve the effects of childhood trauma, reclaim their future and fully reintegrate back into society.

Like all Social Enterprises, we have a fire in our belly to bring about positive social change. Training is the vehicle for this change.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][mk_custom_list title=”Related Training” icon_color=”#ff9900″]

Why take a course in Adverse Childhood Experiences?

There is a growing evidence base showing that the experiences we received during childhood can significantly affect us through the course of our lives. A groundbreaking study carried out in California in the mid-90s identified that children who experience a stressful and miserable quality childhood are more likely to develop self-defeating behaviours in adulthood. Their follow-up study identified that Adverse Childhood Experiences are not just a health concern, but that children who are currently experiencing ACE are more likely to perform poorly in education, become involved in antisocial behaviour and even substance use.

In this course, we aim to support a paradigms shift from “What is wrong with them?” to “What have they lived through, and how has this shaped their development?”
