Description
Effective Life Story Narrative Course for Foster Carers and Social Workers
This course explores the importance of Life Story narration for children separated from their family of origin. It can help them to make sense of their past and present in order to move into the future with confidence. Life Story work involves gathering together facts about the child’s life in a creative way, resulting in a reassuring record of who they are and where they came from. Our legal responsibility is set out in the Children Acts of 1989 and 2004 to ensure children and young people’s views and wishes are at the heart of any process that affects their lives. This includes seeking their active participation in Life Story work as a key tool in promoting their sense of identity and self-worth.
