Description

Gang Training (UK)

This Gang Culture and Knife Crime Awareness program aims to assist participants to understand how gang culture in the UK has developed and how a young person’s sense of self-identity can be related to gang culture.

We will discuss why children and young people may join a gang or even start up their own, as they look for friends who will protect them. The course explores how gangs are presented as easy access to money, friendship and a glamorous lifestyle. We then examine the reality of how gang culture impacts the individual and wider society.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To understand how gangs and county lines are interlinked
  2. To know what ‘County Lines’ are and how violence is applied
  3. To understand the link between knife crime and county lines
  4. To understand vulnerabilities and indicators
  5. To know the context of criminal exploitation
  6. To know the barriers to engagement of young people
  7. To look at how vulnerable individuals are groomed, coerced, and forced into assisting them
  8. To be aware of what is our legal responsibility and how do we respond?

This option is aimed at an audience with prior knowledge of the subject and isn’t suitable for.  Those that are new to the subject would be better with our standard course.

Need more time?

We recognise that sometimes groups need more time for discussions and group work. This can mean that a two-hour session is just not long enough to explore the curriculum and engage in question and answer sessions. So we are you offering the opportunity to extend the session by an hour to allow your trainees the chance to explore the curriculum fully!
