Description

Working with Hypervigilant & Dissociative States: Online training for Foster Carers, Social Workers, Drug Workers and Social Housing teams

As practitioners, it is essential to understand that early childhood trauma and adversity can have a devastating effect on the well-being and functioning of a young person.  If we do not support them to resolve their trauma, the effects will often continue throughout life.

In this lesson, we will reflect on how hypervigilant and dissociative states present themselves and the effects they can have on the young person. We will explore how the condition is both behavioural and biological. As professionals, we need to learn the best approaches to responding to traumatised children, thus maximising the chances of better outcomes for the child and everyone around them.

Need more time?

We recognise that sometimes groups need more time for discussions and group work. This can mean that a two-hour session is just not long enough to explore the curriculum and engage in question and answer sessions. So we are you offering the opportunity to extend the session by an hour to allow your trainees the chance to explore the curriculum fully!
