PACE Foundations – for Groups (1/5) (Zoom)

From: £370.00 3 hours

Description

PACE, which stands for Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy, is a proven therapeutic approach developed by Clinical Psychologist Dan Hughes. This training module emphasises building meaningful connections with children to establish a secure bond before addressing their behaviour. The PACE model has gained widespread recognition as an effective care strategy for adults working with children.

As you progress through this course and the subsequent four modules, we will equip you with practical resources and strategies to effectively demonstrate your therapeutic engagement using PACE. Additionally, we will provide recording methods to help you showcase your work to Ofsted and other partner agencies.

Starting with this Foundation course before delving into the other modules is essential. Please book all five modules to enable the full implementation of PACE and receive a 5-10% discount.

Why is PACE important?

  • Builds Secure Attachments: PACE helps foster strong, secure attachments between caregivers and children, especially those who may have experienced trauma or neglect.
  • Reduces Shame and Trauma: By creating a safe and supportive environment, PACE can help children reduce feelings of shame and trauma.
  • Enhances Communication: The PACE approach encourages open and honest communication between caregivers and children, leading to better understanding and problem-solving.

Key components of the training:

This training focuses on understanding the principles and practical application of the PACE model. We cover topics such as:

  • The importance of Attachment: Understanding the role of secure attachments in child development.
  • The impact of Trauma: Learning about the effects of trauma on children's behaviour and emotions.
  • PACE principles: Deepening understanding of the four core elements of playfulness, Acceptance, curiosity, and Empathy.
  • Practical application: Learning how to implement the PACE model in various caregiving settings.

Suitable for:

Our PACE suite is suitable for a wide range of individuals. We recommend a yearly refresher to ensure that practices stay fresh and to help prevent the worker from reverting to the style of parenting they experienced:

  • Social Workers: Case managers, child welfare workers, and community organisers.
  • Caregivers: Foster parents, adoptive parents and kinship caregivers.
  • Mental Health Professionals: Therapists, counselors, and social workers.
  • Educators: Teachers, school counselors, and special education professionals.

Those seeking to be certified in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) are invited to visit the founder's website.

Format: This is a live training session through "Zoom". It includes taught sections, small group work, work in pairs, and whole group discussions.

Hand-outs & Certificates: Downloadable resource library and certificates of attendance are provided.

Need more time?

We recognise that sometimes groups need more time for discussions and group work. This can mean that a two-hour session is just not long enough to explore the curriculum and engage in question and answer sessions. So we are you offering the opportunity to extend the session by an hour to allow your trainees the chance to explore the curriculum fully!
